Quality control at ATOMINIUM begins when we recruit the people who will be carrying out the translation process. What we demand of translators, editors, and quality control specialists is:

  • tertiary education in the philology of a foreign language, Polish philology, applied linguistics or studies supported by documented language skills;
  • a minimum of two years’ experience in the case of translators and five in the case of proofreaders;
  • a test translation in the field and language pair in which the translator specialises.

At the outset, translators undergo a trial period during which all their translations are checked by an ATOMINIUM Certified Expert.

At the same time, translations are only ever entrusted to translators who have already been tested and of whose qualifications we are assured.

Every stage of the process has its influence on the quality of the translation. There are at least two stages; translation and quality control, also known as verification. This involves checking the translation from the technical viewpoint; the completeness of the text, the correct formatting, figures, orthographical and typographical errors, and so forth. However, the best results are obtained in the three-stage process, which consists of translation, proofreading and verification. The proofreading process is multi-layered; it involves a close comparative scrutiny of the translation with the source text in terms of accuracy and completeness and may also include revision of the linguistic substance.  The high level of translation we achieve at ATOMINIUM is also owing to use of IT tools to assist the process, thanks to which we are able to create glossaries and terminology bases as required by the project. We also make use of the other rich lexical bases which we have at our disposal.
