Software localisation PDF Print E-mail
Software localisation is the translation of code and the adaptation of the translation to the parameters of the input software. The localisation process involves:

  • specialised translators;
  • editors;
  • programmers and localisation engineers;
  • consultants as regards form and content.

In order for the software to be properly localised, it is initially translated using IT tools which are compatible with the client’s own. Then the final effect is adjusted to suit the linguistic and cultural specifics of the target user group.

The greatest single challenge in software localisation is the difference in word length. Once translated, the text may have expanded, shrunk or, indeed, have remained more or less unchanged. What often happens, however, is that the message that appears in the window does not fit and the size therefore has to be adjusted. This is where necessity of adapting the translation to the user’s requirements comes into play. At ATOMINIUM, we provide you with professional assistance in solving this and other problems associated with software localisation.

There is no one, universal method of working on localisation, which is why it is our pleasure to find the ideal solution for your project. Send us a request for a quotation and see for yourself how ATOMINIUM works.
